To be like Malkowicz
This video has turned out to be the most controversial of all films I have ever made.
It’s been banned everywhere, no online service ever agreed to show it (FB, YT, you name it).
18+ definitely.
About the film:
– Production year: 2002
– Budget: 0 PLN
– The last film I made during that period of time, it happened after Polish golden youth, Get the f*** out of the cinema, and a couple more I am not gonna publish as they’re unwatchable…
– The original idea was simple: it was supposed to be another long and extremely boring film no one would like to watch. A guy sits at the bar with a poker face for 10 minutes, then he walks back home, and… sits in his chair with the same poker face for another 10 minutes. Nah, too boring – even for me.
– I had a friend then, a very talented musician, Glen Fobister aka bugyell, who composed music I really enjoyed. He also borrowed me a book about Pee Wee Gaskins, an American serial killer, the worst one ever. So I created a narration about such a guy and incorporated it into the poker face bore plot.
– The idea was to place the camera behind the bar for 1 hour and record the customers’ conversations. Malkowicz, the main actor, was only supposed to sit there, read books, smoke ciggies, and occassionally chat to random barflies.
– The topics discussed there were centered around violence and murder, just like in bugyell’s songs. So I made a mixture of these two. The conversation seems a bit erratic/chaotic but that’s how it naturally went.
– Rubinkowo and Bydgoskie are districts in Toruล. Browarna is a street name. Niechorze is a seaside village.
– The film starts very slowly, it was edited to the sound of bugyell’s music, then it gets weirder and weirder, and the end, or the final 3 minutes, is the ultimate display of weirdness – the reason this film has been banned everywhere.
So enjoy the show – here comes the forbidden fruit ๐
