The Lake that Raised Bhopalis
Directed by
Pranjal Joshi
Some landscapes quietly become part of our emotional lives. In Bhopal, Bada Talab is more than a lake. It is a space where memory, routine, and human connection converge. Through intimate observations of people and their relationship with the city’s waterscape, this short documentary explores how places shape the way we live, feel, and remember.
Moving between moments of stillness and everyday life, the film reflects on the unseen bond between individuals and the environments they return to, seeking comfort, belonging, or simply a pause from the noise around them. As cities continue to change, the film asks what is truly lost when such spaces disappear. Beyond geography, it is often fragments of identity, and lived experience that slowly fade away. At its heart, the film is about place, presence, and the quiet act of listening to ourselves through the spaces we inhabit.
