Ten Centimeters

Directed by
Qiang Niu

Li Chunhui, a woman born in the same year as the People’s Republic of China, lives with a disability that leaves her left leg ten centimetres shorter than the right. After dropping out of junior‑high school, she married a husband with severe deafness in the countryside and gave birth to two healthy children. She struggled forward through years of unemployment, social discrimination and lost vital opportunities. Eventually, she and her husband secured living‑security benefits and are enjoying their peaceful later years. This film documents the seventy‑year‑long life journey of Li Chunhui, revealing the far‑reaching impact that a ten‑centimetre disability has brought upon her and her whole family.
