Jessica’s Game

After moving to Canada with her family, young Jessica struggles to adjust to an unfamiliar environment and a new language. As a child on the autism spectrum, she also finds it difficult to understand other people’s emotions and the unspoken rules of social interaction. Watching the children around her chat, play, and make friends so naturally often leaves Jessica feeling lonely—and longing for a friend of her own.

To encourage her, Jessica’s father suggests that making friends might be like playing a game: something you learn by trying, making mistakes, and moving through one level at a time. His words spark Jessica’s imagination.

Soon, every greeting, conversation, and attempt to join in becomes a new “level” in her own imagined game. Blending reality with a vivid fantasy world, Jessica sets out on a magical journey filled with challenges, failed attempts, and the courage to try again—all in the hope of finding a true friend.

This whole game and levels concept is an extraordinarily in-depth look into all this 👏 It opens up everything in a cinematic and genius way
