Ideal Theatre
Don Quixote exists in each of us. It’s just that not everyone dares to admit it. We’re used to living in the mundane, in soap bubbles, in murky liquid. But somewhere down there, at the bottom, the knight still sits. He waits. He wants to fight. And sometimes—once in a lifetime—we allow him to do so. The theater is one of the few places where this is still possible.
Our film is about how Don Quixote isn’t a literary character or a Spanish hidalgo. It’s a state of mind. It’s in everyone: in a director who demands the impossible, in an actor who searches for the line between romance and madness, in a woman who carries a role to its very limits. We watch the troupe rehearse the play and gradually realize: to play a knight, you have to find it within yourself. And that’s the hardest part.
