Tommi Raution HE JÄIVÄT on poeettinen dokumenttielokuva talvisodasta lapsenlapsen näkökulmasta. Elokuvassa tuodaan esille naisen asema kotirintamalla ja toisaalta sivutaan vähän historiassa puhuttua Keljan taistelua, yhtä talvisodan ratkaisutaisteluista. Elokuvan fiktiivisessä osassa kerrotaan inhimillinen tarina sotilaan ja hänen vaimonsa kohtalosta talvisodan jaloissa perustuen autenttiseen kirjeenvaihtoon. Dokumentaarisessa osassa kaksi Keljan taistelussa sotineen sotilaan lastenlasta etsivät pappansa kohtaloa sekä kuullaan muun muassa kertomuksia evakkotaipaleelta. Dokumenttielokuva kuuluu osana Suomen itsenäisyyden 100-juhlavuoden ohjelmaan.

Tommi Rautio’s HE JÄIVÄT is a poetic documentary about the Finnish winter war from the perspective of a grandchild. The film highlights the position of women on the home front and on the other hand sidesteps the little-discussed Battle of Kelja, one of the decisive battles of the Winter War. The fictional part of the film tells the human story of the fate of a soldier and his wife at the foot of the winter war, based on authentic correspondence. In the documentary part, two grandchildren of a soldier who fought in the Battle of Kelja search for their father’s fate, and you hear stories from an evacuee, among other things. The documentary film is part of the program for the 100th anniversary of Finland’s independence.
