From Up Here is a micro-series set around a small balcony in downtown Toronto, where a group of roommates spend ordinary moments smoking, drinking chai, talking and watching the lives unfolding around them.
From this distance, strangers become stories. A man dancing alone seems carefree. A woman repeatedly getting into cars invites assumptions. A suspected drug den may be something else entirely. An elderly couple’s quiet date night looks like a portrait of enduring love.
But the balcony only offers a partial view.
Across its short, self-contained episodes, From Up Here sits in the space between what is seen and what is assumed, where meaning is always incomplete and perspective quietly distorts reality. It finds humor, tenderness, contradiction, and the deeply human in lives that are never fully understood, only briefly observed.
