Abnegat

Logline: Someone appears in a town out of nowhere to see what its inhabitants are capable of in terms of compassion and care.

Brief description of the plot:
Out of nowhere, someone appears in the swamp.
He literally falls from the sky.
He struggles to get out of the swamp and half-naked and barefoot walks towards the Old Town.
He crosses the bridge where he sees the statue of an angel – he shows his white wings as well.
He finds a coat hanging on a window and puts it on.
Then he walks around the Old Town and sees all sorts of things.
He’s in rags, unshaven, and his hair is disheveled.
He can’t speak, when he tries he only makes rough, strange sounds.
People look at him suspiciously and generally ignore him. Occassionally someone stops by and takes a look or throws a coin or gives him a bun to eat while he’s lying/sitting on the street.
He sees terrifying things: someone hangs himself in a gateway, someone with a baseball bat and a swastika armband takes his bun and coin away, someone draws his portrait and tosses it to the bin. Etc…
Finally, he leaves the town and crawls into the forest. There, drunks sitting over cheap wine attack him and take his coat.
Our character continues on to the fort, where he commits suicide with the bottle the drunks used to attack him.
His body disintegrates, and he rises as a dark angel with black wings and soars through the air.
Lights go out throughout the city, and his foot crushes the Copernicus monument.

Basically, a story about human indifference and brutality.

So fast? Wow, good things arrive swiftly it seems. The logline might be the best I've ever read :o This might just become the greatest short film of all time. Definitely should win some academy awards just for the logline lol. I think this could do well in September's Down the Rabbit Hole showcase 😅 But should also send this to some real festivals first 👍

Heh, you're exaggerating as always, let's see how it goes. Right now I am getting into the mood and thinking up the scenes/takes/angles, etc...
