Omid reza Marusi is an independent filmmaker, writer, director, performer, and visual storyteller from Iran. His work focuses on science fiction, action, experimental cinema, and personal documentary storytelling, often exploring human behavior, identity, conflict, technology, and the consequences of personal choices.

Working outside the traditional studio system, Marusi has developed his films with extremely limited resources, often taking on multiple roles throughout the filmmaking process, including writing, directing, acting, visual development, editing, and production. His approach is rooted in the belief that limited equipment or financial resources should not prevent a filmmaker from creating ambitious visual narratives.

His filmmaking journey includes projects such as CORPORATION, CORPORATION²: Revolution of X, and PROTOCOL, an experimental science-fiction/action project centered around the concept of controlling anger and taking five seconds to think before an irreversible act.

Marusi has also created the documentary OUTSIDE THE FRAME, a deeply personal work that explores his own journey, creative struggles, filmmaking process, and the reality of creating ambitious cinematic projects under difficult circumstances. Rather than presenting filmmaking as a polished or conventional success story, the documentary reflects the human side of independent creation and the determination required to continue creating with limited resources.

A defining aspect of Marusi’s work is his unconventional production process. Some of his projects have been created using basic consumer technology, including a smartphone, combined with digital editing, visual effects, and emerging AI-based filmmaking tools. This approach allows him to experiment with cinematic storytelling without access to the budgets, equipment, or production infrastructure normally available to traditional film productions.

Through his work, Marusi seeks to demonstrate that cinema can emerge from places and circumstances far beyond the traditional filmmaking system. His goal is to continue developing original stories, experimenting with new visual techniques, and bringing independent Iranian filmmaking to international audiences.
