Eight-year-old child labourer Siva collects and sells street garbage to support his
family’s livelihood. His father Kumaran, a street flute seller, does not encourage
Siva’s passion for music. However, Siva has an immense attraction and love for the
flute. One day, Siva finds a broken flute in a garbage dump. To repair it, he goes in
search of Sivasubramanian, a deaf flute maestro. After receiving no response
despite calling out multiple times, Siva begins to play the broken flute.
Sivasubramanian, who has the ability to feel music by observing the reflection of
Siva’s finger movements in the house mirror, discovers the young boy’s
extraordinary musical talent. His humanity and love create a turning point in Siva’s
life. He gifts Siva a new flute and invites him to practice music daily. Over time, Siva
is freed from child labour and involves himself fully in education and music. Guided
by his mentor, he wins several awards and achieves success in school-level music
competitions. This story highlights the humanity of a mentor who identified a child’s
hidden talent and changed his life. It emphasizes that every child has the right to
receive an education, to dream, and to express their talent.
