Ugolino
In the frozen depths of Dante’s Inferno, Dante and Virgil encounter Count Ugolino, a condemned soul crouched over a mysterious figure trapped in the ice. When questioned, Ugolino recalls the betrayal of Archbishop Ruggieri, who imprisoned him and his sons inside a tower and left them to starve. Fragmented memories reveal the horror of their final days: a sealed door, desperate cries, hunger and loss. Back in the frozen wasteland, Dante asks what Ugolino is doing. His answer reveals a punishment born from grief, vengeance and an insatiable hunger that death itself could not extinguish.
