THE STOLEN YEARS

Directed by

Henny Purwadi

The Stolen Years is an film about a life quietly shaped by time taken away. Through fragmented memories, shifting realities, and traces of a past that refuses to disappear, the film follows a person confronting the years lost to silence, separation, and forces beyond their control. In a neon-drenched future where identity is digitally inscribed on the body, Ethan awakens to a life he does not recognize. A woman named Mary claims to be his wife—married only a month earlier—but Ethan remembers nothing of her, their marriage, or the years they supposedly shared. His mind remains anchored to another reality: Susie is still his girlfriend, and today is her twentieth birthday. Rejecting Mary’s desperate explanation, Ethan leaves the apartment and races into the rain-soaked city on a futuristic motorcycle, determined to find Susie. As he pursues a memory that may no longer belong to the present, The Stolen Years becomes a haunting mystery about memory, identity, and the fragile boundary between lived experience and manufactured truth. The journey begins with one unsettling question: were Ethan’s years lost—or deliberately taken?
