The Last Note
In “The Last Note”, young Quefia faces traumatic events in her family and romantic life that plunge her into a state of profound emotional instability. While grappling with major disappointments that make her consider giving up, a mysterious and unexpected encounter inspires her to overcome the troubles that once plagued her.
This cinematic story reminds us that we never truly know what others are facing in their private lives. The daily struggles of our colleagues, fellow students, and family members might surprise us; that is why kindness and solidarity are so important—we never know what someone else is suffering.
Through an allegorical depiction of a concept found in religious and spiritual practices—common in art and in the everyday lives of Brazilians—we are inspired never to give up on ourselves, no matter the difficulties we face. Handling delicate subjects with great care and responsibility, the film “The Last Note” uses the narrative’s cathartic moments to instill in the viewer the certainty that we must always choose life.
