The Collection (Part I)
The Collection is a 1973 Boston crime short following Vinny, a trusted collector working for a powerful mob boss, travelling across the city collecting money from those who owe. But after returning home from his latest job, Vinny discovers a photograph of someone he never expected to see again — his brother, a man he believed had died more than ten years earlier.
As Vinny begins searching for answers, he quickly realises that the people closest to him may have known the truth for years.
The film follows Vinny as he confronts Lenny, a long-time friend of his father and a man deeply connected to the same criminal world. Meeting inside a quiet Boston bar, Vinny attempts to uncover just how much Lenny knows about his brother — and, more importantly, how long he has been keeping it from him.
About the Film:
This first chapter of The Collection introduces audiences to Vinny, the world he inhabits, and the secrets that will ultimately force him to question everything he thought he knew about his family and the people around him.
What begins as a routine life of collecting debts soon becomes something far more personal. Vinny’s discovery marks the beginning of a much larger journey — one that will take him deeper into his father’s past, his brother’s disappearance, and the criminal organisation he has spent years serving.
The Collection is designed as the opening chapter of a continuing crime story, establishing its characters, atmosphere and central mystery while leaving Vinny with one unavoidable question: if his brother is alive, why was he made to believe he was dead?
